The Final Fantasy series of video games has been among the overwhelming victories of recent years, and every fresh instalment has been eagerly anticipated. We are currently onto XIII, can it be as good as the rest?
Like its predecessors, ffxiv data centres is a role playing game to be used with games consoles. It’s been well received, as have all the games in this show along with the die hard fans rate it as the best ever. There are, however, those who see it as a game too much and that instead of bringing something fresh it is merely a revamp of what has gone before.
The largest change since the last instalment has been in the conflict system. To attempt to keep the tactical struggles feeling fresh, it has tried to recreate the systems utilized in the ffxiv world status, with a couple of twists. Unlike FF XII, when you encounter enemies that you don’t fight them there and then, you’re transported to another battle screen, away from the primary playing area. There is the welcome return of the ATB (active time battle), but the distinction is that you can link together a series of commands to make an attack, and so receive attack bonuses.
The grid exists, so that every one of the characters advantages from other weaknesses and strengths, and aren`t all the same. A bid deal was made of this is your marketing campaign, but to be honest, it should come as standard, as what fun is there’s commanding lots of different characters that all possess the very same qualities?
There’s a brand new purification system in FF XIII, known as the Crystarium System. This resembles the Sphere Grid that was a big feature of FFX, but rather than gaining experience points as soon as you’ve dispensed with an enemy, at this point you get CP (Crystogen Points) that can be stored up and then spent various features, maximizing your HP such as. The Crystariums aren’t there in the beginning, and are attained by earning your way through the sequence of tales. As you go on, an increasing number of levels are unlocked till you reach the maximum that your character can achieve. You start with the option of three specialist areas for your personality, and then more roles are unlocked.
The setting for FF XIII is a world called Pulse, which is home to a race of mechanical beings known as the fal’Cie. They have god like powers and contain crystals which effectively control them. They set their sights on various personalities, which are known as l`Cie. These all have jobs to do and goals that the fal’Cie have given themand of course, its up to you to figure out what these are and stop them first.
Overall, this is an enjoyable game with a lot going for it. The images are, as ever, exemplary, as well as the characters a great deal of fun to command. This series must come to a conclusion earlier or laterFeature Articles, perhaps this is a fitting final ffxiv data center split.
